Though the marquise cut was developed c. 1745 (in Paris, for King Louis XV who wanted a diamond in the shape of his mistress' smile), it enjoyed major spikes in popularity at times in the 20th century, including the 1920s, 1950s, and 1980s. Very good vintage condition with reasonable wear.
